Questions & answers
The things a parent asks before spending $250 on a book that shows up after the season.
- When do I pay?
- When you sign up: $250, one time, and nothing else to buy. It’s 100% money back until you say yes. At the end of the season you see the real book, page by page, before it prints. Until you say yes, every dollar comes back, no questions.
- What do I actually have to do?
- Take the pictures you were going to take anyway. After a game, the app asks for about a minute: your favorite photos, the result, one line if you want. Behind on photos? Dump the whole camera roll in at once and we sort it onto the games by the day each photo was taken. A few short questions during the season, whenever you have two minutes. That’s the whole job. The app is an easy checklist that shows you one thing at a time; everything else waits until you feel like it.
- What if we miss games, or I fall behind?
- You can’t fall behind. Every game gets its page the day the schedule goes in. A game with three photos still gets its page; a game with none still exists. Nothing locks until the book prints, so you can open any game and add to it in February. And you don’t need every date — the book goes by the order of the games, so put them in the order they happened and fill in dates when you know them.
- Do my photos have to be good? They're from my phone, in a dark gym.
- Phone photos are what this is built for. Send the ones you like; what you send is what prints, and we never choose for you. A dark gym still tells the story. Fewer photos make a page that’s a little quieter, not a page that’s missing.
- Who sees my kid's photos?
- You, and the people you hand the book to. Your photos are never sold. They’re used for your book and nothing else — unless you tick the one box on the permission page that lets us show a page or two of your finished book on this site, and you can untick it any time. There’s no team feed, no shared album, and no one on the team sees your app.
- Do I need an app from the App Store?
- No. You get a link. Open it on your phone, add it to your home screen, and it lives there next to your camera for the season. No account to set up, nothing to download.
- How big is the book?
- A square 8.5 × 8.5-inch hardcover, full color on heavy paper, cover printed on the board. Somewhere between 40 and 100 pages — it grows with the season. Most games get two pages, and so does a team dinner or a service project you put on the schedule.
- What's actually in it?
- A cover in your team’s colors with your logo. A page you dedicate to whoever you like. The whole season at a glance. A trading card of your kid. Every game: your photos with your captions, the result, a stat line where the sport keeps one, your one sentence. Team events, in order. Eight photos of your kid off the court (or the field, the track, the pool) — breakfast, the bus, asleep in the car. The people in the stands. Your words, your kid’s words, the coach’s, the grandparents’. The season added up. A page for signatures, and one to tape things into. And a few things we’re keeping a surprise.
- Is this just a photo book?
- No, and that’s the whole point. A photo book is photos. This one has the result of every game, a stat line where the sport keeps one, a trading card, the things your kid said, a word from the coach, and pages of what the grandparents remember — none of which a photo book can make. It’s also as rich as you make it: send only photos and you get a handsome photo book; spend two minutes after each game and you get the season. Most parents land somewhere in between, and every page they filled is one nobody else on the team has.
- Can I add a game, or a team dinner, or take one off?
- Yes, any time. The schedule is yours to change all season: add a game and its pages appear; take one off and it leaves the book but keeps anything you already gave it. A dinner, a service project, a media day — put it on the schedule and it prints like a game, in date order.
- Can I get copies for the grandparents?
- Yes. Copies are $69 each — the same hardcover. When you say yes to the book, reply to that email with how many and where, and we add them to the same order. Grandparents, the other parent’s house, the coach.
- When does it arrive? Will it be here for the banquet?
- Figure on about three weeks after you close the season: a couple of days for your look and ours, then about two weeks for printing and shipping. Most banquets are sooner than that, so plan on the book being the thing that lives on the shelf, not the thing on the banquet table.
- What if the season ends early, or my kid stops playing?
- Take the games that won’t happen off the schedule, then tap close whenever you’re done. You see what’s there and either say yes, or say no and get every dollar back.
- What if something in the book is wrong?
- You see every page before anything prints, and you can change anything. When it’s right, you tap “Yes, print it” and tell us where to send it — that’s your approval, and we keep it on file with the date and time. We print exactly what you approved. If the printed book doesn’t match what you approved, that’s on us, and we print it again.
- Is this a team book?
- No. It’s one kid’s season, made by one parent. No committee, no collecting photos from six phones, no chasing anyone. If other parents want one, they get their own.
- Can two kids share one book?
- Two, yes — never more. Siblings on the same team: one book, both kids in it. A teammate: you stay in charge, and the other family gets its own copy for $69 when you approve the book. For now we set the second kid up by hand — email hello@xyodex.com when you sign up and we’ll do it with you.
- Which sports?
- All of them: basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, baseball, softball, track & field, cross country, swimming, wrestling, tennis, golf, lacrosse, hockey, gymnastics, and cheer & dance. Open now: basketball, girls’ volleyball, soccer, football, baseball, softball, track & field, cross country, swimming, wrestling, tennis and golf. The rest open as their artwork is finished. Pick your sport and we’ll tell you the moment yours opens.
- Who prints it?
- A prominent nationwide book printer, to order — one book at a time, bound, and shipped straight to you.
